Luther Armaun Whitson, aged 32 and born on January 5, 1991, is a rising artist from Saginaw, Michigan. Under his stage name WHOISLUTHER, he has carved out a path in the music world with his versatile talents. As a self-taught songwriter, producer, and publisher, WHOISLUTHER prefers his own production over using others’ beats. His unique conversational flow and metaphorical wordplay captivate listeners, while his raw lyricism reflects real-life struggles with an undertone of hope.
WHOISLUTHER’s music aligns with positive Hip-Hop, but it also resonates with mainstream appeal. His debut single, “All The Way,” is an upbeat anthem about overcoming modern-day evils and resisting the rap industry’s temptations. Growing up in a musically-inclined household in the early ’90s, Luther was influenced by a wide range of artists, from The Temptations to Tupac. He started exploring music at age 7, joining his elementary school band and choir, and began rapping at 11. Recognized as the best rapper in his middle school, he earned the title “Freestyle King” and later was acquainted with fellow rapper and classmate Adrian Macafee (Aye Mack) and producer Scottie Robinson (Scotty Rosevelt).
Initially performing under “DJ Random Action,” Luther honed his beat-making skills alongside rapping. He started self-releasing EPs and mixtapes as a teenager, gaining popularity through school performances. At 21, despite local success, he took a break from music, disenchanted with the negative aspects of his surroundings.
His journey took a turn in 2012 when he embraced Christianity, leading to a rebranding as WHOISLUTHER at age 30. This marked a revival in his music career, now blending his newfound perspectives with a trap-like style.
